AEON, MD Change And 4Q Earnings Preview
On February 20, 2024, Aeon Co. (“Aeon Malaysia”) announced a change in Managing Director from Mr. Keiji Ono to Mr. Naoya Okada (current deputy MD), effective 1 March 2024. According to Bursa filing, the current MD’s resignation aims to pursue a higher position assigned by Aeon Co., Ltd (“Aeon Japan”). Recall that Mr. Keiji Ono assumed the MD position at Aeon on 1 July 2022, concurrently with Mr. Naoya Okada’s appointment as deputy MD.

Beware MYR Reaching 5.00 From Lack Of Intervention
Before soaring to RM4.0395 versus the US dollar on August 12, 2015, the Malaysian ringgit stood below RM4. Since then, the Malaysian ringgit continued to weaken to RM 4.7845 against the dollar on February 19, 2024 and maintained above RM4,00. It is projected that the ringgit might hit RM5.00 in January 2025, with an average exchange rate above RM5.00 for the following year, if the government does not step in to keep a lid on this rise.
