Japan’s Exports Rise Before Trump Tariffs Take Effect

Japan’s exports increased at a faster pace in February as businesses rushed orders ahead of higher US tariffs, according to data from the Ministry of Finance. Exports by value rose 11.4% year-on-year, though they slightly missed the 12.6% median estimate. Meanwhile, imports fell 0.7%, compared to the expected 0.8% increase. Japan’s trade balance returned to surplus, recording ¥584.5 billion ($3.9 billion).
